The Flying Pickle
Wiser Parkway
The Flying Pickle, a pickleball club founded in the Boise area, confirms it will open a new location near Quake Family Fun Center in unincorporated Benton County near Kennewick.
Building permit data is not yet available, but Detrick Development LLC will construct the new facility off Wiser Parkway, according to a sign it placed on the property. Detrick previously built Quake, the trampoline-centered family entertainment center off the Badger exit from Interstate 82.

Kennewick
AC Marriott at Three Rivers Convention Center

Taran Patel of A-1 Hospitality has submitted plans to construct a five-story hotel and spa under the name AC Marriott at the Three Rivers Convention Center.
The project has an estimated construction value of $38 million, according to a building permit application pending with the city of Kennewick, which owns the site.
Fowler General Construction Inc. is the general contractor for the project. Knutzen Engineering is the engineer. The project is part of the planned expansion of the convention center, to which it will be connected.
Surf Thru Express Car Wash 2

Surf Thru Express Car Wash has started construction of its second Tri-Cities facility.
The new automated car wash is being built near the intersection of Highway 395 and West 7th Avenue. The first is being built in Pasco in front of HAPO Center and a third is planned on Columbia Park Trail in Richland.
The Kennewick project will consist of a 6,000-square-foot car wash and related support facilities, including canopies for vacuums. Tom Stirling of Pullman is the developer. The city of Kennewick issued a permit authorizing a retaining wall in December.
The retaining wall has a declared construction value of $300,000.
Chervenell Construction Co. is the contractor.
Chick-fil-A (update)
7009 W. Canal Drive
The Tri-Cities’ first-ever Chick-fil-A restaurant is taking shape fast in a parking lot near Wendy’s, Hobby Lobby and the Columbia Center area of Kennewick.
After installing a foundation and utilities, workers raised the first wall panel on Jan, 16. The 5,000-square-foot future chicken restaurant was fully walled 11 days later.
When complete, Chick-fil-A will seat 70 indoors, 24 on the patio and offer a two-lane drive-thru.
The $1.1 million project is being constructed by Engineered Structures Inc..
Ross Dress For Less (update)
2825 W. Kennewick Ave.
The discount retailer is converting a former Safeway store near Highway 395 into a new store.
It recently installed signs and posted “Now Hiring” and ”Opening Soon” signs. It will be the second Ross in the Tri-Cities.
Stephens & Sons is contractor for the $740,000 project to create a shell for the store. Retail Construction Associates is contractor for the $535,000 interior renovations.
Panera Bread (update)
6821 W. Canal Drive.
Work continues on the Tri-Cities’ second Panera Bread location in the former Old Country Buffet spot at the Colonnade Shopping Center near Columbia Center.
Stephens & Sons was the contractor for the demolition work, valued at $65,000. Hogback development Co., which owns the property, is contractor for the interior renovations for Panera, valued at $770,000.
