A defensive standout in the Tri-Cities for a long while, Chiawana High School graduate Caleb Weber turned down football scholarships to attend a New Jersey prep school after his senior year. The gamble paid off, as he was accepted into Cornell University and will play for the football team — with full NCAA eligibility remaining — beginning this fall.
Richland High School senior football and baseball player Adam Weissenfels accepted his appointment into the United States Naval Academy on Wednesday. His father, Bob Weissenfels earned a master’s in aeronautical engineering from the school and was the football team’s co-captain.
