Othello, Prosser have big Week 6 prep football contests this weekend

Week 6 of small-school prep football doesn’t have a lot of major matchups this Friday or Saturday.

But there are a couple.

On Saturday, Othello — which sits alone at the top of the Class 2A Central Washington Athletic Conference — visits Ephrata at 6 p.m. in a key conference game.

While the visiting Huskies are unbeaten (4-0 in CWAC, 5-0 overall), the host Tigers sit at 3-1, 3-2, and Ephrata likely needs this win more than Othello does as we’re starting to close in on the postseason.

Meanwhile Prosser has won three consecutive CWAC contests to get back into postseason talk.

The Mustangs will step out of conference play this week when they visit Class 1A power Royal at 7 p.m. Friday.

According to Prosser statistician Sean Hall, this will be the first time in 36 years the two schools will meet in football. Back in 1987 and 1988, Prosser and Royal were in the same 1A league, with the Mustangs winning both years.

The Knights went into Cashmere last week and dominated to raise their record to 5-0.
