Chiawana undefeated with 1 game left in regular MCC football season

Chiawana clinched the Mid-Columbia Conference’s top Class 4A seed, and at least a share of the regular-season football title, in beating visiting Richland 21-14 last Friday.

Gage Williams scored on two touchdown runs, including the go-ahead score in the third quarter, for the Riverhawks.

Scott Bond’s team is now 8-0 with just one game left on the regular season schedule: a road game at Walla Walla on Thursday.

This coming Sunday, Nov. 2, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association and its seeding committees will rank the top 32 teams in Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A for each classification’s Round of 32 games — set for Nov. 6-8.

Williams led a smothering Chiawana defense, getting 5 tackles (3 for loss) and a fumble recovery.

Brady Knowlton added 5 tackles (4 for loss) and a safety.

Both Williams and Knowlton each had three quarterback sacks.

Chiawana linebacker Tayten Cissne led the Riverhawks with 10 tackles (2 for loss), a QB sack, a tackle for a safety, and an interception.
