Connell routs Wahluke. Burbank and River View win, set up big showdown this week
After losing a non-league game the previous week, Connell jumped back into 1A SCAC East play this past weekend with a 56-0 rout of Wahluke.
The Thursday night game had some big numbers for the Eagles, now 2-0 in SCAC East play and 3-4 overall.
Connell quarterback Carson Lloyd led the way with 281 yards passing, completing 15 of 19 attempts and throwing five touchdown passes.
Lloyd hit Kellen Riner for three TDs, and Riner finished with 4 catches for 137 yards.
Jackson Price had 3 catches for 94 yards and had the other two TD catches.
Defensively, end Jason Rodriguez (3 tackles, 2 for loss, 2 QB sacks and fumble recovery); while lineman Tucker Thomasson (8 tackles, 1 for loss) and Jackson Forsyth (3 tackles, 3 for loss, 2 QB sacks) also were outstanding.
Connell plays host to Kiona-Benton this Friday, while Royal — which had a bye this past weekend — will travel to College Place.

Both Columbia-Burbank and River View took care of business last week, winning games and setting up a big showdown in Finley on Thursday night.
River View routed Mabton 63-0 on Saturday afternoon. No details were available.
On Friday, Burbank beat visiting Cascade of Leavenworth 41-6 in a non-league encounter.
Elijah Kinsey led the Coyotes with 185 yards rushing on 23 carries, and three touchdown runs.
Teammate Matthew Wilder added two more TD runs.

2A CWAC play
Prosser can still hope for a three-way tie atop the CWAC standings, but the Mustangs must do their part on Thursday night by beating visiting Ephrata.
Prosser fell at East Valley 17-13 on Friday, handing the Mustangs their second CWAC loss.
East Valley was ahead 10-0 at halftime, but Isaac Reyna returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
Then Gayge Thiemann ran in for a 3-yard TD in the fourth quarter for a 13-10 Prosser lead.
However, the Red Devils rallied to win the game.
Now, Prosser must beat Ephrata on Thursday, then beat Selah on Oct. 27. But the Mustangs will still need help: an Ephrata loss to Ellensburg; and an Othello loss to East Valley.
Meanwhile, Ephrata beat Grandview 48-14 on Friday.
Dutch Graf led the Greyhounds in the loss with 38 yards rushing on 9 carries. Linebacker Titus Jeffrey led Grandview with 3 tackles (2 for loss), two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

With Liberty Christian not having a game scheduled this coming week, the Patriots were able to go all out last Friday in a 50-14 win at Waitsburg.
The second-ranked Patriots were led by Charlie Branning, who carried the football 27 times and rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensive end Joey Isley led LC with 15 tackles (2 for loss), while linebacker Addison Lyles had 13 tackles (2 for loss).
