Top Tri-Cities restaurant openings of 2019. And the closing of a few long-time favorites
Tri-City residents were able to indulge one of their favorite pastimes in 2019, checking out new places to eat.
From eclectic, locally owned cafes to fast food joints to local favorites expanding to new quarters, there were many options to try out in the Tri-Cities area.
That helped ease the sting of favorites that closed.
The Tri-Cities no longer has homey, family-owned Carmine’s Italian Restaurant in Kennewick, and Yoplicity, the Tri-Cities’ first self-serve yogurt shop in Kennewick.
Also gone are Z Pizza and Chico’s Tacos in Kennewick, the Tri-Cities’ last Qdoba and Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que at the edge of Columbia Center mall.
Dickey’s Barbecue Pits in each of the Tri-Cities remain dark after closing in June, reportedly in search of a new franchise owner.
But here are some of the new eateries:
▪ The Dive opened in north Richland at 2000 Logston Blvd., off Highway 240, in early summer, taking advantage of an outdoor patio.
It serves burgers and other hearty sandwiches, along with beer and cocktails.
“The Dive fries are suberb!” said one online review.
▪ West Richland got a new restaurant, The Endive Eatery at 4001 Kennedy Road.
It serves soups, salads and sandwiches, with a changing menu that ranges from gluten-free turkey tortillas to creative vegetarian dishes featuring ingredients like green curry tofu.
