Wolf shot from roadway south of Pendleton. Tip may lead to reward

Oregon law enforcement is asking the public for information about a wolf shot and killed in the Blue Mountains.

The animal was one of the four that formed the Desolation Pack of wolves.

The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife troopers were contacted the morning of Monday May 18 about a mortality signal from the collar of a wolf about three miles north of Olive Lake in the Umatilla National Forest.

They found the dead wolf along Forest Service Road 10 at Desolation Meadows, roughly 50 miles south of Pendleton, Ore.

The preliminary investigation indicates the wolf likely was shot from the roadway sometime during the late evening of May 14 through the early morning hours of May 15.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the state Turn In Poachers (TIP) hotline at 1-800-452-7888, by emailing TIP@osp.oregon.gov or by calling *OSP (*677) from a mobile phone about case number SP26-160166. TIP reports may be anonymous.

Cash rewards may be offered for information, including up to $11,500 from the Oregon Wildlife Coalition.
