Sign up now for summer hunter education class in Tri-Cities

Registration is open for a six-session hunter education class that will start July 7 in the Tri-Cities.

The free class is being held by the Richland Rod and Gun Club along with the Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

It will cover firearms and outdoor safety, wildlife management and hunter responsibility. Hunter education is required to get a hunting license in Washington state for anyone born in 1972 or later.

The class will meet evenings 6 to 9 p.m. July 7-11 at Griggs Department Store, 801 W. Columbia St., Pasco. The class concludes with a range day 9 a.m. to noon July 12 to allow students to practice shooting.

Students under 18 will need a parent permission form and students 12 or younger must have an adult with them during the class.

Registration is required and can be done online at register-ed.com/programs/94 for that and other hunter education classes until they fill. Contact Ron Ruth at 509-737-7350 for more information.
