Audubon Society plans monthly easy bird walks in the Tri-Cities

Monthly walks to spot birds on Bateman Island in Richland are planned for October through January.

The will be on Saturdays Oct. 1, Nov. 5, Dec. 3 and Jan. 7.

As many as 50 bird species can be seen on the 2-mile loop around the island, according to the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society.

Knowledgeable birders can help beginners identify resident and migratory birds of the Tri-Cities and Eastern Washington area. Binoculars are available for loan.

Meet at 8 a.m. for the monthly walks in the parking lot of Wye Park above the causeway to the island on Columbia Park Trail, Richland.
