The Tri-Cities’ newest high school is nabbing some serious talent from its neighbors.
Sageview High School has hired nearly two dozen coaches for its inaugural 2025-26 athletics season, many from high schools throughout the region.
Practices for fall sports are underway already as teams ready up to compete for the first time as Lobos.
That includes football, girls soccer, volleyball, cross country, softball, golf, and basketball. Sageview teams will play in the Mid-Columbia Conference.
Michael Don was hired in the spring to be Sageview’s first athletic director.
He most recently worked as Othello’s AD, and spent the previous 15 years as a head football coach, the last nine at Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee.
Don’s a 2001 Prosser High School graduate, so the move to the Tri-Cities brings him a bit closer to home. He’s enthusiastic about their first hires. Several names stand out, but Don highlighted the real swipes.
Don Hogue left the Pasco football program to launch Chiawana’s in 2009. Now, the Riverhawks’ defensive coordinator will do that again as the Lobos’ first football head coach.
Hogue’s been part of four Washington state football championship runs while at Pasco schools.
In volleyball, Allyson Stanley’s River View Panthers have won league titles and been a real force to reckon with in 2B play.
She’s been head coach there the last seven years, and an inspiration among players, alumni and peers. Stanley is also a product of Southridge and played at Columbia Basin College.
In basketball, Case Rada was a standout when he was in high school at Kamiakin, across the river in Kennewick. During his 2011 senior season, he earned league MVP, was named to the all-state first team and led Kamiakin to a third-place finish at state.
He went on to play Division 1 ball at Sacramento State. Most recently, he’s coached at Walla Walla Community College and will now lead Lobos boys basketball.
Overall, Michael Don’s thoughts, “We’ve got a lot of good, young coaches on staff.”
New school is ‘exciting opportunity’
Sageview administrators and school district leaders will get the keys to their new 300,000-square-foot high school Monday, Aug. 4.
The $125 million school was built for 2,000 students and is set to open Aug. 27.
In the meantime, practices have been taking place at different middle schools and high schools.
But the chance to play a key role in starting an athletics program is “exciting,” Don says — it’s an opportunity to “build it and make it into what you want.”
“It’s not something that happens too often, so it’s an exciting opportunity to do that,” he said.
“The amount of technology in the school is just awesome,” Don continued. “The sound system, the hoops — everything’s hooked up to technology. And having everything on one campus is nice.”
Kids, coaches and staff will also have their chance to play a role in cementing the legacy of their inaugural season.
