Pasco man accused of trying to kill his father while he was praying
A Pasco man sneaked into his father’s bedroom and attacked him after allegedly threatening to do it for weeks.
Alejandro L. Franco, 24, allegedly told his father that “If I want, I can easily kill you” and “I want to die, but not alone” in the months before he allegedly lunged at him with a kitchen knife shortly before midnight on Wednesday, court documents said.
The attack left Franco’s father with several cuts on his face, throat, hands and upper back. The injuries were not life-threatening.
Franco is being held on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder in Franklin County jail. He is being held in lieu of $500,000.
He’s also been ordered to stay away from his father.
The victim lived with Franco inside a mobile home at the Lakeview Manufactured Home Community in Pasco. The park is located on Road 40 E right next to the Amazon warehouse.
Franco’s father was praying about 9 p.m. before going to bed when his son slipped into his bedroom. Franco had developed a habit of randomly checking on him when he was sleeping by turning on the light.
But on Wednesday night, Franco allegedly approached him with a kitchen knife, court documents said.
The father saw his son’s shadow approaching him before Franco lunged at him. He cut his father several times before the victim was able to escape, court documents said.
While police searched the trailer for Franco, he had left. Police did find the kitchen knife covered in blood.
He was discovered the next morning, according court documents. His clothes and shoes appeared to have dried blood on them and he had dried blood under his fingernails.
Franco has a history of crimes against his neighbors in the mobile home park. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail in May after trying to kick in his neighbor's door. He had pleaded guilty to residential burglary.
