A Kennewick High School student allegedly threatened to kill a teen and their family unless the victim made a video for him.

Police said in a Facebook post that Yonathan Solano-Abadillo, 18, knew his victim when he sent the message through social medial on Monday.

The post doesn’t say about what the content of the video was supposed to be or how he knew the victim.

By Tuesday afternoon, detectives identified Solano-Abadillo as the person who made the threats and arrested him at school with help from the school resource officer.

He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first-degree extortion and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

“This case is also a reminder to students, staff and parents that all threats regarding students, even if they occur outside of school or online, will be taken seriously, and real consequences will occur,” said the post.
