29-year-old facing felonies after fleeing Kennewick crash because of unpaid tickets

A $10,000 arrest warrant was issued for a Tri-Cities woman who allegedly drove away from a Kennewick crash, after hurting a woman because she didn’t want another ticket.

Now, Emily S. Nava is charged with vehicular assault and hit-and-run in connection with the June 29 crash.

Nava failed to show up for court on Jan. 30 after being summoned to enter a plea to the charges.

Investigators believe Nava was driving her sister’s stolen Chevy Silverado when she crossed the center line on Edison Street and hit an Acura head on, court documents said.

The Acura’s driver suffered a broken wrist and injured foot.

Investigators found the pickup with front-end damage parked in front of a home on the 4100 block of Rio Grande Avenue, court documents said. They discovered Nava’s driver’s license, work name tag and multiple business cards inside the truck.

When police spoke to the truck’s owner, who had reported it stolen, she said she believed her sister, Nava, had taken it.

The car was also parked in front of a home of someone who Nava has a relationship with.

An officer spoke with Nava on the phone on Aug. 1, and she allegedly said she left the crash scene because she had two unpaid parking tickets and didn’t want another one.
