2 teens charged with firing at Grandview officer’s house. His wife, kids were home too
Two teens are charged with shooting several times at a Grandview police officer’s house while his family was home on Monday.
The 16-year-old alleged gunman, Sebastian Perla-Landeros, and the 17-year-old driver, Oscar Rangel, are each charged with second-degree assault and drive-by shooting.
Court documents said people in the car could see from the road that a patrol car was parked at the house.
Three others in the car — two 19-year-old women and a 20-year-old man — have not been charged.
Benton County Prosecutor Eric Eisinger said they haven’t ruled out filing charges later.
The 23-year-old Grandview police officer was at his home with his wife and two children about 5 p.m. when he heard about six shots fired from the road, court documents said.
The home is on the boundary between Benton and Yakima counties.
When the officer looked out the window he spotted a rust-covered white Dodge Neon speeding north on the road.
The officer ran to his patrol car and reported the shooting and the direction the car was headed to dispatchers. He didn’t recognize the car or see anyone.
Other Grandview police officers stopped the Dodge Neon on Pleasant Avenue, and found Perla-Landeros in the front passenger seat and Rangel driving.
Grandview police officers also spotted a gun under a passenger seat and impounded the car to get a search warrant.
They are both being held in lieu of $100,000 bail in Benton-Franklin Juvenile Detention in Kennewick, sheriff’s Sgt. Horacio Gonzalez told the Tri-City Herald.
