Man accused of shooting at woman who confronted him about using drugs with her boyfriend
A dispute that started with two men doing drugs allegedly erupted into gunfire in Kennewick, police said.
Isaac Leal Valdez, 20, Kennewick, and another man allegedly planned to do drugs in a parking lot at the corner of Hood Avenue and Volland Street about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Commander Isaac Merkl told the Tri-City Herald.
When the other man’s girlfriend came to the parking lot, Leal Valdez fled and she chased him to an apartment building on the 600 block of South Tweedt Street.
Leal Valdez ducked into an apartment, returned with a gun and allegedly fired one round at her but missed, Merkl said.
Several people, including the woman who was shot at, called 911.
But before officers arrived, Leal Valdez drove away from the apartment in a dark SUV, Kennewick police said in a Facebook post.
Pasco police later spotted the SUV at 19th Avenue and Court Street and arrested Leal Valdez and seized the gun.
Leal Valdez had an active protection order filed against him, which meant that he wasn’t allowed to have guns.
He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and illegally possessing a gun.
