Early morning fire destroys Tri-Cities area mobile home, damages another
An early morning fire Sunday destroyed one home and damaged another nearby it in Finley.
Benton Fire District 1 responded to single-wide mobile home at 200217 E. Bernath Road about 3:30 a.m.
The property owner was able to evacuate safely with one dog, and a pet pig also was found safe. However, a second dog remains missing, according to the fire district.
The displaced resident is being helped by relatives.
Those living in a nearby single-wide mobile home damaged in the fire also evacuated.
Fences built within a few feet of the home that was destroyed made accessing the fire difficult, according to the fire district.
Several water tender trucks responded because there were no fire hydrants in the rural area.
The Pasco and Kennewick fire departments assisted, and Benton PUD disconnected power.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
