Motorcycle rider seriously hurt in crash on Clearwater Ave. in Kennewick

A motorcycle rider was seriously hurt in a crash with a large SUV shortly after 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 7400 block of West Clearwater Avenue in Kennewick.

Both the motorcycle and a Cadillac SUV were traveling west toward the North Columbia Center Boulevard intersection.

Initial reports to Kennewick police suggested that the SUV might have left the scene of the crash, but the driver returned to the area shortly after the crash and cooperated with investigators, according to Kennewick police.

The motorcycle driver’s speed likely was a factor in the crash, according to police.

The names of the drivers in the wreck have not been released, but police said the injured person was a 39-year-old Kennewick resident.

Police at the scene Saturday said the motorcycle driver was taken by ambulance to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, and a police report Sunday indicated the driver was then taken out of the area for further medical care.
