The Tri-Cities tradition of a community run before indulging in Thanksgiving dinner is back.

Registration has opened for the American Red Cross Turkey Trot, a signature Tri-Cities. Wash., event to be held Thanksgiving morning at Columbia Park in Kennewick.

This is the first time since 2019 that the run/walk will be in person rather than virtually and a new course is being planned, according to the Red Cross.

Thousands of runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are expected to cover a one-mile or a 5K course starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 24. There also is an option for people who are out of town to participate remotely.

Early bird discounts are available for individuals and teams who register no later than Oct. 15. Tickets start at $10 and increase in price with commemorative youth and adult T-shirts and other swag.

The Red Cross will use proceeds to support its Home Fire Campaign for people burned out of their homes.

Register online at tinyurl.com/5arutff8 or by calling 509-551-3097 and providing credit card information.
