‘It’s not over’ until this ’80s powerhouse rocks the Benton Franklin Fair
Rock group Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas will take the stage Aug. 26 at the Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo for a one-night live performance.
Tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. Friday, March 18. Admission into the fair is also required.
Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas is the latest musical act announced by the fair, which runs Aug. 23-27.
“Mickey’s stellar voice and video charisma on Starship’s video classics, such as ‘We Built This City,’ and ‘Sara,’ became staples on MTV and VH1,” read the band’s online biography. “The material covered in Starship’s live performance ranges from Mickey’s tenure with The Elvin Bishop Band and Starship, as well as songs from his two solo albums.”
The group is also behind other 80s hits including “Find Your Way Back,” “Stranger,” “Laying It On The Line,” and “It’s Not Over Til It’s Over,” the last of which became Major League Baseball’s theme in 1987.
Every album released by the group since 1979 has gone either gold, platinum or multi-platinum. The current lineup includes bassist Jeff Adams, vocalist CIan Coey, guitarist John Roth, keyboardist Phil Bennett, and Darrell Verdusco on the drums.
Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas begin their U.S. tour in April, with their August stop in the Tri-Cities currently listed as their last scheduled show.
Tri-Cities staple Eagles cover group Fastlane will be the opener for the Aug. 26 show.
