Local outdoors briefs: Tri-Cities Marathon set for Sunday
The 35th annual Tri-Cities Marathon — sponsored by Trios Health — will be held this morning.
The 26.2-mile event is also a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
Over 90 individual runners are registered for the event, with many others competing in relay events.
The course starts and ends at the Shilo Inn in Richland.
Runners will run through all three of the Tri-Cities and all three of the bridges.
Runners will leave the Sihlo Inn and head to the I-182 bridge, crossing over the Columbia River and into Pasco. Runners will then head down the path along the river until they get to the Blue Bridge, where they will cross over it into Kennewick.
They then head 2.5 miles into Columbia Park before doubling back, running on the path next to the river, and then go over the Cable Bridge back into Pasco.
From there, the runners will go back along the path next to the river — eight miles — until they get to the I-182 bridge and go back into Richland, where they work their way back to the Shilo Inn and the finish line.
