Free 6-day hunter education class starts Aug. 1 in Tri-Cities

A six-day hunter education class will start Aug. 1 in Pasco.

The free class is being held by the Richland Rod and Gun Club along with the Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

It will cover firearms and outdoor safety, wildlife management and hunter responsibility. Hunter education is required to get a hunting license in Washington state for anyone born in 1972 or later.

The class will meet 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 1-5 at Griggs Department Store, 801 W. Columbia St., Pasco. The class concludes with a range day 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 6 to allow students to practice shooting.
