Kiwanis annual bike ride from Columbia Park is back with routes of 25 to 100 miles

The Inland Empire Century Bike Ride from the Tri-Cities is back after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus.

The Kiwanis of Tri-Cities Industry and Walla Walla Kiwanis will hold the ride May 7, starting at the Camp Kiwanis Building Columbia Park in Kennewick, Wash., to raise money for youth programs.

A route of 25 miles is offered for casual cyclists and families, and more challenging routes of 50, 75 and 100 miles are available for experienced cyclists, attracting riders from around the Northwest.

The shortest route travels a loop along both sides of the Columbia River and the Yakima River delta.

The longer routes head to Benton City, and the 75 and 100 mile rides climb Webber Canyon Road through green, rolling wheat fields to reach views across the Yakima River valley. The ride back to Richland passes vineyards, orchards and hop fields.

Routes are staffed with support in vehicles and have restroom, drink and snack stops.

Register online by May 4 at inlandempirecentury.org. Cost is $20 for ages 13 to 17; $35 for the 25-mile ride; and $60 for the 50, 75 and 100 mile rides.

The Inland Empire Century Bike Ride returns post-COVID May 7 with a family-friendly 25 mile route, plus routes up to 100 miles for experienced cyclists. Routes start at Columbia Park in Kennewick.
