Royal claims Class 1A state football title, finishes season 14-0

The Royal High School football team completed an undefeated season when it beat King’s 28-7 in the Class 1A state title game Saturday in Tacoma.

Royal’s Joe Lang ran for two touchdowns and returned an interception 58 yards for a score, while Kaden Jenks passed for 229 yards and also rushed for a TD.

The title is the sixth in school history and the first since 2007 for Royal (14-0). Wiley Allred, who has been the head coach at Royal since 1999, won his fifth state title as the team’s coach.
