Richland-Central Valley football game moved to Friday

The first-round Class 4A state football game between the Richland Bombers and Central Valley Bears scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Fran Rish Stadium has be rescheduled to Friday at 7 p.m. at Lampson Stadium, a move necessitated by the poor field conditions at Fran Rish.

Richland’s venerable grass field was left in muddy shambles last weekend after games were played there on back-to-back nights. Hanford and Mead played there Thursday night, followed by Richland and Lewis & Clark.

On Saturday, two more Mid-Columbia Conference teams will tee off at Lampson. Lakes will battle Kamiakin at 1 p.m., after which Wilson will play Kennewick at 5 p.m. in the Class 3A state playoffs.

Other Friday matchups include Charles Wright at Royal and Connell at Cashmere, both 7 p.m. Class 1A state games.

In the Class 1B ranks, Liberty Christian will play host to Odessa-Harrington at 6 p.m. Friday at Edgar Brown Stadium.
