Pasco kicks off 2015 prep football season Thursday night
The Pasco High School football team is eager to embark on a new — and hopefully winning — journey under first-year Bulldogs coach Kevin Jolley.
That journey begins Thursday night, as Pasco is one of three area teams getting an early start to the 2015 season.
The Bulldogs will battle Davis High School at 7 p.m. at Zaepfel Stadium in Yakima.
Pasco, which stopped a 24-game skid in league games last season and finished the year 2-8 overall, hopes to tack on a few more victories in 2015. It will be anchored by the return of quarterback Kolby Killoy, a 2014 second-team all-Mid-Columbia Conference selection. He led the MCC last year with 2,311 passing yards and 22 touchdowns.
The Waitsburg Cardinals, whose eight-year merger with Prescott High School was dissolved after last season, will host Mac-Hi at 7 p.m., and Rainier Christian will visit Sunnyside Christian at 6 p.m.
A full slate of 22 games will take place Friday. The schedule includes a Camas-Chiawana matchup at Edgar Brown Stadium, a Gonzaga Prep-Richland tilt at Fran Rish Stadium, a Hanford-Hermiston battle at the Bulldogs’ Kennison Field and a renewal of a classic Connell-Othello rivalry at the Eagles’ newly refurbished field — all at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Kamiakin heads to Ferndale for a 5 p.m. contest. The Braves beat Ferndale 34-14 at Lampson Stadium to begin the 2014 season.
