Richland tied for top spot in 4A football poll
The Richland Bombers have some company atop The Associated Press Class 4A state football poll this week.
Richland, which took over the top spot after beating Skyline in the season opener, and fellow 5-0 team Camas received 85 points to share the No. 1 ranking. But Richland received five first-place votes to Camas’ four.
The Bombers defeated Pasco 47-0 in Mid-Columbia Conference action Friday, while Camas topped Battle Ground 49-28 in a 4A Greater St. Helens League contest.
After last Thursday’s 54-7 MCC win over Kennewick, Chiawana (5-0) rose two spots to No. 5, collecting 40 points in the poll.
Meanwhile, Kamiakin (4-1) stayed at No. 6 in the 3A poll after defeating Hanford 48-14.
This week, Richland plays at Kamiakin, and Chiawana hosts Southridge.
Prosser (4-1) inched up a spot to No. 5 in the 2A rankings after beating East Valley 49-20. Archbishop Murphy (5-0), which has had three opponents forfeit this season, was the unanimous No. 1.
In the 1A poll, Royal (5-0) again received all 11 first-place votes to easily hold at No. 1. Connell (5-0) remained No. 2.
After losing to Lummi 53-22 on Saturday, Touchet (2-2) fell out of the 1B poll, getting 12 points. Tacoma Baptist (5-0) moved in at No. 5 with 36 points.
In The Seattle Times power rankings, Richland remained the solo 4A No. 1. Kamiakin didn’t budge from the No. 7 spot in the 3A rankings, and Prosser moved up a spot to No. 7 in 2A.
