NWAC final basketball showdowns this weekend at Columbia Basin College in Pasco
The Columbia Basin College men’s basketball team was eliminated from the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) tournament on Saturday, losing to Portland Community College 66-56 at the CBC Student Recreation Center.
Jackson Leach led Portland with 18 points and 4 assists in the victory.
Coleton Hansen had 18 points to lead the Hawks in the loss. Teammate Bobby Siebers added 14 points, while Kaden Bethel had 8 points and 8 rebounds.
CBC ends its season with a 15-12 record.
Later Saturday, top East No. 1 seed Walla Walla lost its men’s first-rounder, falling 93-68 to South No. 4 seed Southwestern Oregon.
Luke Fotheringham led the victorious Lakers with 24 points.
Luke Holecek had 14 points for the Warriors, who finished with a 23-6 record.
Teammate Trey Arland, a Kamiakin High School graduate, had 8 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors.
The semifinals for both the NWAC women and the men are now set for Saturday, March 15, at CBC.
That will include the Walla Walla women, who will take on Umpqua at 2 p.m.
Both championship games are set for Sunday, March 16.
