Leadership in Action: Supporting a Critical New Recovery Facility for Tri-Cities | Opinion
Leadership Tri-Cities Class XXVIII invites the public to witness the impact of their yearlong volunteer project in support of the Columbia Valley Center for Recovery. The class has dedicated its efforts to improving the first inpatient substance use treatment facility in the Tri-Cities region, ensuring a welcoming and dignified environment for individuals on their recovery journey.
The Tri-Cities region is the only major metropolitan area in Washington without a residential substance use treatment facility or detox unit. Currently, individuals in need of these services must travel out of town—or even out of state—to receive care. With behavioral health identified as one of the most urgent community needs by the Benton-Franklin Health District, the Columbia Valley Center for Recovery will fill a critical gap in services for individuals and families impacted by addiction.
To support this vital resource, Leadership Tri-Cities Class XXVIII took on a hands-on project to help transform the facility. The project focused on landscaping over 21,000 square feet of the property with decorative rock and painting an outbuilding that was not included in the current renovation phase.
These enhancements aim to create a more inviting space for those seeking treatment and to support Columbia Valley Center for Recovery’s mission of providing accessible, lifesaving behavioral health services to the community.
The class has raised funds through local businesses, organizations, and community members, but additional support is needed to ensure the success of this project. The public is encouraged to contribute and help make a lasting impact on the lives of those in recovery.
