1 more morning of possibly icy roads forecast in Tri-Cities. Much warmer weather coming
A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas of southeast Washington, raising the possibility of slick roads for the Wednesday morning commute.
A 90% chance of rain, possibly mixed with snow, is forecast for Wednesday morning until 10 a.m.
Little or no new snow accumulation is forecast in the Tri-Cities, according to the National Weather Service.
But drivers will need to be cautious, especially on bridges and overpasses that may be slick, says the weather service.
The winter weather advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
After that no more snow is forecast through at least Monday. In fact, temperatures will warm significantly.
Last week, the Tri-Cities shivered through lows as cold as 4 degrees.
Tuesday night a low right at freezing is forecast.
But by Friday night a low above freezing at 35 is forecast, warming to 46 by Sunday night. The Tri-Cities has not had an overnight low in the 40s since Christmas week.
Highs should increase from a forecast 39 on Wednesday to almost 60 on Monday.
Normal highs for the third week of February in the Tri-Cities are about 50 degrees and normal lows are about 28 degrees, according to weather service data.
