Tonight: Freeze watch in effect as Tri-Cities braces for coldest fall temps so far

Friday morning could be frosty in places in the Tri-Cities as the temperature drops to freezing for the first time this fall, says the National Weather Service.

A low of 32 degrees is forecast for most of the Tri-Cities on Thursday night.

It’s a reminder that it’s time to get home sprinkler systems blown out to prevent pipes from freezing this winter, and to make sure you have your ice scraper in your vehicle for frosty windows.

Thursday should be the coldest night of the week.

Friday nights should be in the mid 30s. As a storm system brings rain for the weekend, lows should warm to about 43 for Saturday and Sunday.

Normal lows for late October in the Tri-Cities are in the mid 30s.

Highs this week should be in the mid to upper 50s through Friday, warming into the low 60s on the weekend, according to the weather service.

If you’re heading to the west side of Washington state for the weekend, you’ll hit the same storm but precipitation should fall as rain.
