This craft brewery ranks as Washington’s best, Yelp says. What makes it so special?
Yelp ranked the best craft breweries in every state in honor of American Craft Beer Week, which starts May 16.
In Washington, a south Seattle brewery topped the list.
To find the best craft brewery, Yelp looked at U.S. businesses categorized as breweries that make their own beer. Then each place was ranked based on the total volume and ratings of reviews, according to a May 9 blog post.
All businesses on Yelp’s ranking were listed as open and have a passing health score as of April 21.
Georgetown Brewing Company — Seattle
Roger Bialous and Manny Chao quit their jobs to become brewers.
After making batches on a back deck, they turned their passion into a brick-and-mortar business.
Now their brewery made Yelp’s “Top brewery in every state in the U.S.”
“If you’re visiting Seattle, this brewery can feel out of the way, but it’s totally worth the short drive!! All the beers are absolutely amazing!” one Yelp reviewer wrote.
The brewery has a wide-ranging and changing beer list with a few staples and seasonal beers.
Some of the classic beers include the “iconic” Manny’s Pale Ale — it’s crisp and smooth with hints of citrus and fruit. Or there’s Roger’s Pilsner, a refreshing brew with a “spicy and earthy hop aroma.”
One Yelp reviewer raved about the coffee beer.
“I tried the Gusto Crema Coffee Ale with nitro and it was delicious! This drink is the main reason I really want to come back,” they wrote.
Customers can sip on a pint at the brewery or pick up a growler or keg to go.
“It’s very industrial and a true brewery for the community as seen by the countless locals stopping in with growlers to be refilled,” another reviewer wrote.
Located at 5200 Denver Ave. S., they are open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
