Detours again at Richland’s busiest intersection. When to avoid it
Motorists should allow extra time in south Richland June 2 and June 4 as workers close lanes at the intersection of George Washington Way and Aaron Drive/Columbia Point Drive.
Ellison Earthworks, contractor for updates at the busy intersection, will close the northbound left-turn lane from George Washington to Aaron Drive, as well as the southbound far-left or center lane on George Washington.
The closures are related to ongoing work to improve traffic in the area.
Traffic control begins at 8 a.m. each day and continues through 2 p.m.
Drivers wanting to turn onto Aaron Drive will be detoured via Comstock Street and Goethals Drive. Drivers are encouraged to expect minor delays and use caution in the area.
The South George Washington Way Intersection Improvements Project began in September is meant to ease the flow of traffic through one of the busiest and most congested intersections in the Tri-Cities.
