A lucky poker player won a big jackpot at a Las Vegas casino, thanks to a $5 side bet and a rare hand.

The player scored $2,211,469.

“This was the largest Pai Gow Progressive paid out in the resort’s history,” The Venetian Resort said in a July 24 Facebook post.

The winner, who was not publicly identified, was playing Face Up Pai Gow poker, the hotel said.

This game differs from standard Pai Gow poker in that players can see the dealer’s cards before making a play, according to the hotel.

While at a poker table, the player ended up with a seven-card straight flush, meaning the cards were in sequential order in the same suit.

It’s “one of the rarest and strongest hands you can make in a game of poker,” according to Upswing Poker.

On top of the straight flush, the player also wagered $5, which won the progressive jackpot.

The lucky player won the $2.2 million jackpot with cards 7, 9, 10, jack, queen, king and a Joker standing as an 8 — and all clubs.

Another Las Vegas poker player recently won a jackpot with a straight flush and a $5 side bet, McClatchy News reported.

The anonymous player scored $423,018 on July 20 at Palace Station Hotel and Casino.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.
