Bail set for relatives suspected in Pasco dance club murder
The fatal shooting of a teen outside the La Tropicana night club in Pasco on Sunday was sparked by a fistfight that broke out between the victim and a suspect in the case, according to court documents.
The shooting left Eduardo Angon Del Villar, 19, dead and will likely lead to murder charges against an uncle and nephew from Yakima County.
Santos Flores-Alcaide, 28, and Enrique Alcaide, 22, appeared separately Monday in Franklin County Superior Court in front of Judge Bruce Spanner.
Bail was set at $1 million for Flores-Alcaide, the alleged trigger man, who is held on suspicion of first-degree murder and possession of a stolen forearm.
Police initially identified Flores-Alcaide as 18 after the shooting, but court documents show he is actually 28.
Prosecutor Shawn Sant told the court that the Grandview man has some criminal history, including a fourth-degree assault and hit-and-run.
Spanner set bail at $750,000 for the younger Alcaide, who is held on suspicion of second-degree murder and is accused of starting a fight with the victim.
Alcaide asked during the hearing to be released from jail to continue working, though Spanner reminded Alcaide of the severity of the charge and set bail at the amount recommended by Sant.
Public defenders will be appointed for both men. They are at the Franklin County jail on 72-hour holds while Sant determines what the charges will be.
Angon Del Villar, who lived in Pasco since 2008 and attended Pasco and Chiawana high schools, was outside the dance club about 1:30 a.m. when he was confronted by both suspects, according to a probable cause affidavit released Monday.
The victim and Alcaide then apparently got into a fistfight in the parking lot in front of several witnesses.
As the fight was happening, Flores-Alcaide allegedly went to a nearby car and pulled out a gun.
“(Flores-Alcaide) then approached the victim and shot him at close range as (Alcaide) continued to fight with (Angon Del Villar),” Pasco police Sgt. Jaime Raebel wrote in the affidavit.
Court documents do not shed light on what the confrontation was about or if the suspects and victim knew one another before the shooting.
Angon Del Villar was shot four times in the back and leg, an autopsy showed. He was taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco and died a short time later.
Flores-Alcaide and Alcaide then sped from the scene in a black Dodge Chrysler, court documents said. Police stopped the car on Lewis Street and arrested the men. Alcaide was reportedly driving, and his uncle was in the passenger seat.
When interviewed after his arrest, Alcaide told detectives that his uncle was the one who shot Angon Del Villar, court documents said.
“(Alcaide) said the victim had choked him and that (Flores-Alcaide) had come up and shot the victim during the altercation,” Raebel wrote.
Police searched the scene and found a 9-mm Glock 17 pistol and several shell casings. The gun was reportedly stolen in the Yakima area.
Witnesses later identified the suspects after they were arrested, police said.
Shoe prints were also found near the shell casings that matched the shoes Flores-Alcaide was wearing when he was arrested, court documents said.
