Man in possibly stolen car fled scene after hitting Kennewick fire hydrant

Tri-Cities police are searching for a driver accused of a drunken hit-and-run.

Kennewick police were called out to West Deschutes Avenue and North Center Parkway just before 6 a.m. Sunday for a single vehicle wreck.

When officers arrived they found a white sedan had hit a fire hydrant, but the driver was gone, according to a social media post.

Witnesses told police the driver said he was intoxicated and that the car was stolen, according to the post.

The man then fled through the neighborhood.

Police are searching for a Hispanic man with black hair, about 5’7” tall wearing a white No. 5 Celtics Jersey and blue pants.

He is wanted on suspicion of hit-and-run.

Witnesses said the driver had blood on him and was potentially hurt.

Officers are also investigating whether the vehicle was stolen.
