A 15-year-old Hanford High student was arrested on a nationwide warrant for the suspected murder of a Kennewick teen.

Jacob A. Carrillo of West Richland was taken into custody in Union Gap on Tuesday for the premeditated first-degree murder of Alex Carcamo-Danley, 16.

Carrillo allegedly was driving around Dec. 3 with three other teens looking for Carcamo-Danley, whom he suspected of being in a rival gang, according to court documents.

They found the 16-year-old outside the Heatherstone Apartments, and Carrillo allegedly fired six shots. One bullet hit Carcamo-Danley in the neck and killed him, said investigators.

No one was arrested that night, but police later found a series of videos and text messages allegedly linking him to the shooting.

Kennewick detectives, with help from the FBI, found Carrillo on Tuesday at the Union Gap home, Kennewick police posted on Facebook. Police also seized guns at the home.

Prosecutor Eric Eisinger told the Tri-City Herald that he is asking for the case to be moved from juvenile court to adult court because of the seriousness of the crime. A hearing will be needed to determine if he will face charges as an adult.

Carrillo is a Hanford High School student who allegedly met one of the other suspects involved in the shooting after a fight at the school, court documents said.

Carrillo has four convictions in the past year for gun-related crimes, court records show. The most recent is for illegally having a gun and firing it in Pasco in September. He was sentenced to 25 days.

It was during one of those stays in Benton Franklin juvenile detention when Carrillo reportedly crossed paths with Carcamo-Danley, according court documents.

Carrillo claimed in an Instagram message to another teen that Carcamo-Danley downplayed being involved with a rival gang but then was allegedly talking about his gang involvement after being released.

Heatherstone complex shooting

Carcamo-Danley was outside Building L in the parking lot on the phone with his girlfriend when four teens in a Honda Civic drove up, said investigators. Video shows the car approached about 7:16 p.m.

Carrillo, who was driving, and three other teens got out of the car, said court documents.

Photos from security cameras in the neighborhood allegedly show Carrillo firing a gun while running away.

Six 9 mm shell casings were found in the parking lot.

Video, Instagram and SnapChat

Police tracked the Honda Civic to a West Richland home, where they found two of the teen suspects.

Police also spoke with Carrillo’s family members and learned that he hadn’t returned home since the shooting.

Instagram messages before the shooting show Carrillo arranged to meet the others teen suspects on Dec. 3, with the plan to look for rival gang members, according to court documents.

Police also found “numerous” videos showing Carrillo in the tan Civic before and after the shooting, court documents said.

In the videos after the shooting, the teens talk about Carcamo-Danley and refer to him as “Bando” which is his documented street name, court documents said. The teens also allegedly talked about the murder on SnapChat and later tried to erase them.

The videos also allegedly show Carrillo driving the Civic with a black handgun in his lap, said court documents.
