No arrests yet in 16-year-old’s ‘street violence’ death in Kennewick
An autopsy has confirmed that a 16-year-old was killed by a gunshot in a Kennewick apartment complex parking lot last week.
Alexander Carcamo-Danley was found fatally wounded outside the Heatherstone Apartments on West 10th Avenue on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Witnesses called 911 about 7:20 p.m. to report gunfire in the parking lot. There were initial reports of a shootout, but police have not confirmed what happened.
Initially, officers were investigating if the shooting was gang related but no more information has been released and no arrests have been made.
“We are still actively investigating, but we don’t have anything else to share at this time,” police Commander Isaac Merkl told the Tri-City Herald on Monday.
Several people mourned the teen’s death in posts on the Kennewick police Facebook account.
“Prayers please. I lost a great son to street violence who died without warning to be able protect himself n that’s a coward. Someone that goes after someone without warning or able to prepare to defend himself. He’s my soldier boy, my help when I was in need. I’ll always be (grateful) to have had that time with my boy,” said Amanda Danley LaShortie.
