67-year-old man hit crossing dark, rainy Richland street

A 67-year-old man was hit by a car while crossing a dark and rainy intersection in Richland on Monday evening.

He was walking across Goethals Drive at Abbot Street, near the Life Care Center of Richland, about 5:15 p.m., Richland police said in a Facebook post.

A driver said he didn’t see the man until it was too late because of rain and the man’s dark clothing, and wasn’t able to fully stop in time, said police.

According to dispatch reports, the man suffered a cut above his left eye and had pain in his knee.
