WSP finds hit-and-run suspect who left Tri-Cities motorcyclist critically hurt
A red SUV involved in a crash that left a Tri-City motorcyclist in critical condition earlier this month has been found.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Daniel Mosqueda told the Tri-City Herald that the SUV and driver were identified a couple days after the May 7 collision. He said the driver was interviewed but has not been arrested or charged.
The state patrol had issued an alert to the public to help find the car. He didn’t say how it was located.
Adam L. Garrison, 41, of Pasco, was headed east toward downtown Kennewick on Highway 240 when he collided with a SUV changing lanes near the Edison Street exit about 7 a.m., said WSP investigators.
Several people saw the crash and stopped to help the father of three. They said the red SUV that looked similar to a GMC Yukon had a lot of rear-end damage but kept driving east.
After questioning the driver and searching the SUV, the WSP report was forwarded to Benton County prosecutors to decide if the driver will face any charges.
Investigators have previously described the crash as complex.
Garrison spent about a week in intensive care after suffering from shattered pelvis, a ruptured bladder and two broken arms, according to his mother’s social media posts and his nephew, Dustin Petrick.
Petrick, who started a GoFundMe online fundraiser for Garrison, told the Tri-City Herald that he’s now been released to recover at a rehabilitation facility in Sunnyside.
He will have a lengthy and costly road to recovery, Petrick said.
Garrison, a mechanic for A to Z rentals, led a memorial motorcycle ride for Jhoser Sanchez who was killed in a collision with off-duty Trooper Sarah Clasen.
Petrick said anytime someone needed help with yard work, car repairs or maintenance, Garrison enjoyed helping them.
