A Pasco woman is accused of siphoning nearly $100,000 from an auto parts store over the course of about a year.

Nelly Amaya, 32, pleaded innocent recently in Franklin County Superior Court to charges of first-degree theft.

Prosecutors have also alleged that she stole more than what is normal for this type of crime. If she’s convicted of, that factor would add additional time to a sentence.

Her trial is scheduled for March 12. She has been released on her own recognizance.

Amaya worked as the office manager for the Napa Auto Parts store on Lewis Street between September 2023 and July 2024. She was responsible for the financial books every night, and calculating the deposits, court documents said.

When she took the deposits to the bank, she allegedly took out the cash and changed the deposit amount, court documents said. She allegedly did this numerous times for a total of about $96,000.

It’s unclear how the theft was discovered.

Pasco police were called about the theft at the end of September, and prosecutors filed charges in November.
