2 children, 2 adults hurt in Christmas Eve wreck after driver fell asleep near Tri-Cities

Two children and two adults were hurt after a driver fell asleep on Interstate 82 just outside of Kennewick on Christmas Eve.

Katrina Sifuentez, 32, of Kennewick was driving on westbound I-82 when she fell asleep and hit another vehicle just outside of Kennewick city limits around 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning, according to Washington State Patrol.

Four children ranging in age from 7 to 15 and another adult were in the vehicle. Sifuentez, the other adult, a 7-year-old and a 12-year-old were all injured.

They were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center by a private party, according to WSP. It’s unclear how badly they were injured.

The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.

Sifuentez is being charged with 2nd degree negligent driving and driving without insurance.
