A Pasco man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing a man and leaving him bleeding and pleading for help in a homeless apartment building.

Pasco investigators arrested Marcos De La Torre, 32, after reportedly identifying him using video of the attack at Bishop Skylstad Commons at 10:20 p.m. Friday.

He was being held Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree assault in the Franklin County jail in lieu of posting $500,000 bail.

A person living on the fourth floor of the building called 911 after a 32-year-old victim knocked on his door desperate for medical help, court documents said.

The victim was suffering from multiple wounds in his left side and had left a trail of blood through the hallways, court documents said.

The man couldn’t give police much information so it remains unclear what prompted the stabbing or if either man lives in the building.

Security video from the Catholic Charities building showed a man with a dark gray beanie and a large tattoo on his throat get into a fight with the victim in the doorway between the stairwell and the fourth floor.

Police also spotted tattoos on the suspect’s hands and side of his head. During the struggle, the beanie was knocked off and found in the stairwell.

Investigators say they identified De La Torre by those tattoos.

He allegedly stabbed the other man several times in his right side with a knife with a 3- to 4-inch blade.

Security video shows the victim walking into the fourth floor hallway, hunched over and clutching his side.

Police said the victim’s diaphragm was cut, and he was coughing up blood on the way to the hospital.

The 60-room Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington apartment building provides support for homeless people. Residents work with case managers and social service coordinators to help people with long-term housing and stability goals.
