Man’s body discovered in remote area near Pasco. Officials suspect it’s a homicide

Franklin County detectives are investigating a possible homicide after a body was discovered in the southern part of the county.

A man’s body was discovered in a remote area near Pasco on Saturday, Oct. 5, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said in a Tuesday release.

Deputies confirmed a man’s body was found but are not revealing how he was discovered or the location.

Detectives along with the Washington State Patrol crime lab and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office helped investigate the scene.

Investigators are looking at the death as a homicide, sheriff’s Commander Marcus Conner told the Herald. He said it appears to be a homicide based on where the body was found and that no one was around.

No one has been arrested in connection with the investigation, and no search warrants have been served at this point, Conner said.

Deputies are in the process of trying to confirm the man’s identify, he said.

The sheriff’s office said the man’s name would be released after his identity is confirmed and his family is notified.

Franklin County Coroner Curtis McGary hasn’t said if an autopsy is scheduled.

Conner said more information will be released soon, but they don’t want to hurt the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Steve Warren using the non-emergency dispatch number of 509-628-0333.

Missing men

There have been two men reported missing in the area in recent months but at least one already has been ruled out.

Anibal Arreola, 39, disappeared under suspicious circumstances from Kennewick in May.

Kennewick Commander Isaac Merkl said there haven’t been any new developments in the case.

Also, Dagoberto Galvez, 33, was last seen leaving a relative’s house in Pasco in a white truck on May 10. He could have been in the area of Othello, Connell or Lind, according to a Facebook post.

He is 5-foot-11, 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

His family has been keeping his Facebook page operating as a way to share information about the search.
