An 18-year-old allegedly hit a car before slamming into a vacant Kennewick business while high on drugs.

Lorenzo Bustos of Kennewick was heading east on the 5200 block of Clearwater Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Saturday when he sideswiped a car near the Edison Street intersection, Kennewick police Officer Sebastian Castilleja told the Tri-City Herald.

After the crash, Bustos’ car veered off of the road, drove over the curb and through grass before driving into the parking lot. The car then slammed into the former home of Shelby’s Floral.

The business appears to have been vacant after the florist moved to a new location on Clearwater Avenue in August.

When police arrived, they discovered Bustos still in the car. He was treated for minor injuries before being brought to the Benton County jail.

He appeared to be high on drugs when he was arrested, Castilleja said.

No one else was hurt in the crash, Castilleja said.

Bustos was cited for DUI and hit-and-run. He was released from the jail after posting $2,000 bond.
