Kennewick police are investigating the report of a gang-related shooting near Kamiakin High School on Wednesday morning.

A high schooler’s parent called 911 to report that a group of gang members approached a student and pointed guns at him about 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to dispatch reports.

Kennewick police Commander Isaac Merkl said there was a report of an incident at the apartment complex next to the high school on Arthur Street.

“There was an allegation that there was a shot fired,” he said. “We are reviewing video and combing the area for evidence.”

The report did not trigger a lockdown at Kamiakin High.

Police blocked Arthur Street for a time while they investigated but the road was reopened. No one was reported injured.
