8-plex fire sends residents fleeing into frigid Tri-Cities temperatures

A fire in a Pasco 8-plex apartment building sent residents fleeing into the frigid temperatures Friday.

Pasco firefighters were called to the fire at 1911 W. Jay St. about 11:25 a.m. after someone reported the blaze started in a bedroom, according to dispatch reports.

There were reports that people inside the apartment were able to escape but were being checked by medics for possible injuries, according to dispatch reports.

Two people were taken to a local hospital, according to dispatch reports.

Temperatures were near 10 degrees, with a wind chill factor making it feel like it’s below zero, according to the National Weather Service.
