1 seriously hurt after semi-truck crashes on rural farming road south of Benton City
One man had to be pulled from a crash involving a semi-truck on Webber Canyon Road on Thursday morning.
The semi driver was pulling a trailer with 43,000 pounds of potato flour north on Webber Canyon Road when he lost control about 9 a.m. one mile south of Dennis Road.
The truck appears to have slid on a curve and tipped over into the ditch along the side of the road. It landed on the driver’s side, and firefighters needed to cut him free of the debris.
An air ambulance was called to the stretch of rural two-lane road south of Kiona and Benton City to transport him to an area hospital, dispatchers said.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control, according to officers on the scene. Speed may have been a factor.
Benton County sheriff’s deputies, the Washington State Patrol and Benton County Fire District 2 responded to the crash.
Webber Canyon Road was blocked while Benton County sheriff’s deputies investigated.
