1 person is killed and 5 wounded when gunfire erupts at teen party west of Tri-Cities

One person died and five others were hurt when gunshots broke out just after midnight at a party in Benton City just west of the Tri-Cities early Saturday morning.

The gunfire was reported on the 25000 block of North Willard Avenue in Benton City Saturday morning, Benton County sheriff Lt. Michael Clark said in a news release Sunday.

The gunfire reportedly started after an argument at the party attended by teens and young adults, according to the release.

The six people were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. One victim later died. Another person remained hospitalized with unknown injuries. Four others were treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

The names and ages of those involved were not released.
