Auburn driver arrested for drunk driving after slamming into Prosser patrol car

A drunk driver was arrested after hitting a Prosser police car Sunday night and sending the officer to a hospital.

Officer Scott Orate was heading east on North River Road at Wine Country Road when his patrol car was hit by a 2002 Saturn L100, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash happened about 8:30 p.m.

Investigators say the Saturn’s driver, Anne M. Walsh, 59, of Auburn, was heading south on Wine Country Road when she ran a red light on North River Road and hit the car.

Walsh and her passenger, Raul Gallegos, 68, of Auburn, were not seriously injured. Orate, 41, was taken to Prosser Memorial Hospital.

Prosser police said Orate was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.

WSP investigators said drugs or alcohol are under investigation as being involved.

According to the Prosser police, Walsh was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
