22-year-old driver fell asleep and flipped his truck near Kennewick mall

A drowsy 22-year-old driver was hospitalized Monday morning after crashing on Highway 240 near the Columbia Center Boulevard exit.

Christopher G. Grant, of Wapato, was heading east on the highway in a Toyota pickup about 5:45 a.m. when he fell asleep, the Washington State Patrol said in a release.

The truck went off the road and flipped.

Grant, who was not wearing a seat belt, was treated at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

The state patrol cited him with negligent driving.
